Thomas M. Murphy is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the steering committee for the Morris County Caregivers Coalition, the management committee for Family Service of Morris County and the Elder Law Section of the New Jersey Bar Association. Tom is a past board member for the Guardianship Association of New Jersey and the New Jersey Foundation of the Blind. He has been a multi-year committee person for the New Jersey Alzheimer’s Association Legends of Golf. Tom has a passion for all issues confronting our aging loved ones and has become a leading authority on the Aid and Attendance Pension Benefit for Combat War Veterans. He is a certified by the Veteran’s Administration to represent benefit claims of veterans. Tom is a graduate of Cornell University, School of Industrial and Labor Relations (1980) and Rutgers University, School of Law (1987). He has experience with prominent law firms in Morris and Somerset Counties, and several major corporations based in New Jersey. He has been an Adjunct Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, is a certified instructor of Elder Law for social workers and case managers, publishes a monthly newsletter on elder law, has chaired the Warren County Business Alliance, and served as the first president of the Warren County Human Relations Commission. He currently teaches an end of life decision making program for attorneys in conjuction with Rutgers Law School. Active in his community, Tom is a Fellow of the New Jersey Partnership for Leadership, has chaired the Core Curriculum Commission for the New Jersey Department of Education and has served as a member of the Morris School District Board of Education. Tom has also been a board member for Morris County Youth Hockey where he ran the Learn to Skate Program for over ten years. Tom and his wife Sharon live in Morris Township and have two grown sons.
